THE TRANSGENDER PERSONS (PROTECTION OF RIGHTS) ACT, 2019
NO. 40 OF 2019
An Act to provide for protection of rights of transgender persons and their welfare and for matters connected therewith and incidental thereto.
Be it enacted by Parliament in the Seventieth Year of the Republic of India as follows:—
CHAPTER I
Preliminary
Short title, extent, and commencment 1. (1) This Act may be called the Transgender Persons (Protection of Rights) Act, 2019.
(2) It extends to the whole of India.
(3) It shall come into force on such date as the Central Government may, by notification in the Official Gazette, appoint.
