Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the Paymvrlt to United States of America in Uongress assembled, That the Secretary the 1°g°'1 ";P*`°' of the Treasury be, and he hereby is, authorized and required to pay to sentatives o _ _ John Jackson. the legal representatives of John Jackson, deceased, the pilot on board the Bon Homme Richard, during her brilliant action with the British frigate Serapis in which action the said Jackson lost an arm such a sum as will eqizal a pension at the rate of six dollars per month, from the fifteenth day of November, seventeen hundred and seventy-nine, to the day of said Jackson’s death, agreeably to the pledge given by the captain of the said Bon Homme Richard, and the report of the committee of the Continental Congress, made on the twenty-eighth day of September, seventeen hundred and eighty-five.
