Me Dzstnct of Columbia. -·-—--—-———- Bc it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United Stages of America in Congress assembled, That Eliza Matthews, Eleanor C°"P°"“°°”“‘ Cummings, Mary O. Stonestreet, Mary Stubbs, Sarah Mitchell, Eliza. Snowden, Ann O’Hare and Ann R. Osborn, with such female associates as now are or may hereafter become sisters or lay·sisters of the Visitation, according to the rules and by-laws thereof which have been or which may be hereafter established, and their successors, be, and they hereby are, made a body politic and corporate forever, by the name of “The Sisters (yo,,,,,,.,,,,, Mme_ of the Visitation of W'ashingt0n," for purposes of charity and education; objece; md and by that name may sue and be sued, prosecute and defend; may have P°W°¤ 9f U18 and use at common seal, and the same alter and renew at pleasure; may °°rp°m’°"‘ adopt and establish rules, regulations and by-laws, not repugnant to the laws of the United States, for properly conducting the afuirs of the corporation; may take, receive, purchase and hold estate, real, personal and mixed, not exceeding in value one hundred and fifty thousand dollars at any one time, and manage and dispose of the same at pleasure, and apply the same, or the proceeds of the sales thereof, to the uses and purposes of the association, according to the rules and regulations which now are or which may hereafter be established. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in O'0ngress assembled, That there be paid out of any C lY¤ym<>¤l¤ to money in the Treasury not otherwise appropriated, to Catharine Proctor 1,;;,};*,;,*,*}** P' Hnyden, only child and heir of John White, deceased, late a lieutenantcolonel in the fourth Georgia battalion of the revolutionary army, the sum of six thousand seven hundred and three dollars and fifty-seven cents, the said principal sum being the amount found clue to said John `White, by the proper accounting officers of the Treasury, for the seven years half pay of the said John \Vhite, and for advances made by him to the government during the revolutionary war, and for which treasury certificates were improperly issued to Susanna Richardson and John Richardson, in the year seventeen hundred and ninety-three.
