To designate the month of May 1986 as National Child Safety Month".

Whereas every year untold numbers of children throughout the United States disappear from home; Whereas children who are missing from home are frequently victims of sexual and physical exploitation; Whereas many local volunteer groups are working enthusiastically to promote child safety, but much remains to be done in the effort to fully protect children; Whereas the safety of children should be one of the highest national priorities; and Whereas the designation of a month to commemorate child safety will draw needed attention to the dangers threatening children

and will help educate communities throughout the country about ^M' the problem and what can be done to help solve it: Now, therefore, belt Resolved by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, That the month of May 1986 is designated as "National Child Safety Month" and the President is authorized and requested to issue a proclamation calling upon the people of the United States to observe such month with appropriate ceremonies and activities.
