PUBLIC LAW 100-457—SEPT. 30, 1988 HIGHWAY SAFETY RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT (HIGHWAY TRUST FUND)

For necessary expenses in carrying out the provisions of sections 307(a) and 403 of title 23, United States Code, to be derived from the Highway Trust Fund and to remain available until expended, $6,080,000. HIGHWAY-RELATED SAFETY GRANTS (LIQUIDATION OF CONTRACT AUTHORIZATION) (HIGHWAY TRUST FUND)

For payment of obligations incurred in carrying out the provisions of title 23, United States Code, section 402, administered by the Federal Highway Administration, to remain available until expended, $10,000,000, to be derived from the Highway Trust Fund: Provided, That not to exceed $100,000 of the amount appropriated herein shall be available for "Limitation on general operating expenses": Provided further, That none of the funds in this Act shall be available for the planning or execution of programs the obligations for which are in excess of $9,405,000 in fiscal year 1989 for "Highway-related safety grants". RAILROAD-HIGHWAY CROSSINGS DEMONSTRATION PROJECTS

For necessary expenses of certain railroad-highway crossings demonstration projects as authorized by section 163 of the Federal-Aid Highway Act of 1973, as amended, to remain available until expended, $7,560,000, of which $5,040,000 shall be derived from the Highway Trust Fund. FEDERAL-AID HIGHWAYS (LIMITATION ON OBLIGATIONS) (HIGHWAY TRUST FUND)

None of the funds in this Act shall be available for the implementation or execution of programs the obligations for which are in excess of $12,000,000,000 for Federal-aid highways and highway safety construction programs for fiscal year 1989.
