Whereas the National Fallen Firefighters' Memorial, located on the campus of the National Fire Academy in Enmiitsburg, Maryland, honors the approximately one hundred and sixty volunteer and career firefighters who die each year in the line of duty; and Whereas such Memorial serves as a symbol of the courage and dedication of past, present, and future firefighters in their efforts to protect life and property: Now, therefore, be it 16 USC 431 note. Resolved by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled. That the memorial known as the National Fallen Firefighters' Memorial, located on the campus of the National Fire Academy in Emmitsburg, Maryland, is recognized as the official national memorial to volunteer and career firefighters who die in the line of duty.
