PUBLIC LAW 104-178—AUG. 6, 1996 110 STAT. 1565 Public Law 104-178 104th Congress An Act To amend title 18, United States Code, to repeal the provision relating to Federal Aug. 6, 1996 employees contracting or trading with Indians. [H.R. 3215] Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, SECTION 1. FEDERAL EMPLOYEES CONTRACTING OR TRADING WITH INDIANS. (a) REPEAL. —Section 437 of title 18, United States Code, is repealed. (b) CONFORMING AMENDMENT. — The table of sections at the beginning of chapter 23 of title 18, United States Code, is amended by striking the item relating to section 437. (c) EFFECTIVE DATE. — The repeal made by subsection (a) shall— 18 USC 437 note. (1) take effect on the date of enactment of this Act; and (2) apply with respect to any contract obtained, and any purchase or sale occurring, on or after the date of enactment of this Act.
