"(e)(1) Upon the request of the Secretary concerned (as defined
in section 101 of title 37, United States Code), the Comptroller
General may waive the time limitations set forth in subsection
(b) or (c) in the case of a claim for pay or allowances provided
under title 37 and, subject to paragraph (2), settle the claim.
"(2) Payment of a claim settled under paragraph (1) shall
be subject to the availability of appropriations for payment of that
particular claim.
"(3) This subsection does not apply to a claim in excess of
$25,000. ".

SEC. 611. ONE-YEAR EXTENSION OF CERTAIN BONUSES AND SPECIAL
PAY AUTHORITIES FOR RESERVE FORCES.
(a) SPECIAL PAY FOR CRITICALLY SHORT WARTIME HEALTH
SPECIALISTS. —Section 302g(f) of title 37, United States Code, is
Eimended by striking out "September 30, 1997" and inserting in
lieu thereof "September 30, 1998".
(b) SELECTED RESERVE RENLISTMENT BONUS. —Section 308b(f)
of title 37, United States Code, is amended by striking out "September 30, 1997" and inserting in lieu thereof "September 30, 1998".
(c) SELECTED RESERVE ENLISTMENT BONUS.— Section 308c(e)
of title 37, United States Code, is amended by striking out "September 30, 1997" and inserting in lieu thereof "September 30, 1998".
(d) SPECIAL PAY FOR ENLISTED MEMBERS ASSIGNED TO CERTAIN
HIGH PRIORITY UNITS. —Section 308d(c) of title 37, United States
Code, is amended by striking out "September 30, 1997" and inserting in lieu thereof "September 30, 1998".
(e) SELECTED RESERVE AFFILIATION BONUS. —Section 308e(e)
of title 37, United States Code, is amended by striking out "September 30, 1997" and inserting in lieu thereof "September 30, 1998".
(f) READY RESERVE ENLISTMENT AND RENLISTMENT BONUS. —
Section 308h(g) of title 37, United States Code, is amended by
striking out "September 30, 1997" and inserting in lieu thereof
"September 30, 1998".
(g) PRIOR SERVICE ENLISTMENT BONUS.— Section 308i(i) of
title 37, United States Code, is amended by striking out "September
30, 1997" and inserting in lieu thereof "September 30, 1998".
SEC. 612. ONE-YEAR EXTENSION OF CERTAIN BONUSES AND SPECIAL
PAY AUTHORITIES FOR NURSE OFFICER CANDIDATES,
REGISTERED NURSES, AND NURSE ANESTHETISTS.
(a) NURSE OFFICER CANDIDATE ACCESSION PROGRAM.— Section
2130a(a)(l) of title 10, United States Code, is amended by striking
out "September 30, 1997" and inserting in lieu thereof "September
30, 1998".
(b) ACCESSION BONUS FOR REGISTERED NURSES. —Section
302d(a)(l) of title 37, United States Code, is amended by striking
out "September 30, 1997" and inserting in lieu thereof "September
30, 1998".
(c) INCENTIVE SPECIAL PAY FOR NURSE ANESTHETISTS.— Section
302e(a)(l) of title 37, United States Code, is amended by striking
out "September 30, 1997" and inserting in lieu thereof "September
30, 1998".
