110 STAT. 3936 PUBLIC LAW 104~324~OCT. 19, 1996 (4) in subsection (d)(1), by inserting after "150 gross tons" the following: "as measured under section 14502 of this title, or an alternate tonnage measured under section 14302 of this title as prescribed by the Secretary under section 14104 of this title"; (5) in subsection (i)(l)(A), by inserting after "300 gross tons" the following: "as measured under section 14502 of this title, or an alternate tonnage measured under section 14302 of this title as prescribed by the Secretary under section 14104 of this title"; and (6) in subsection (j), by inserting after "15 gross tons" the following: "as measured under section 14502 of this title, or an alternate tonnage measured under section 14302 of this title as prescribed by the Secretary under section 14104 of this title". SEC. 712. REGULATIONS. Section 3306 of title 46, United States Code, is amended— (1) in subsection (h), by inserting after "at least 100 gross tons but less than 300 gross tons" the following: "as measured under section 14502 of this title, or an alternate tonnage measured under section 14302 of this title as prescribed by the Secretary under section 14104 of this title"; and (2) in subsection (i), by inserting after "at least 100 gross tons but less than 500 gross tons" the following: "as measured under section 14502 of this title, or an alternate tonnage measured under section 14302 of this title as prescribed by the Secretary under section 14104 of this title". SEC. 713. PENALTIES—INSPECTION OF VESSELS. Section 3318 of title 46, United States Code, is amended— (1) in subsection (a), by inserting after "100 gross tons" the following: "as measured under section 14502 of this title, or an alternate tonnage measured under section 14302 of this title as prescribed by the Secretary under section 14104 of this title; and (2) in subsection (j)(l), by inserting after "1,600 gross tons" the following: "as measured under section 14502 of this title, or an alternate tonnage measured under section 14302 of this title as prescribed by the Secretary under section 14104 of this title". SEC. 714. APPLICATION—TANK VESSELS. Section 3702 of title 46, United States Code, is amended— (1) in subsection (b)(1), by inserting after "500 gross tons" the following: "as measured under section 14502 of this title, or an alternate tonnage measured under section 14302 of this title as prescribed by the Secretary under section 14104 of this title"; (2) in subsection (c), by inserting after "500 gross tons" the following: "as measured under section 14502 of this title, or an alternate tonnage measured under section 14302 of this title as prescribed by the Secretary under section 14104 of this title; and (3) in subsection (d), by inserting after "5,000 gross tons" the following: "as measured under section 14502 of this title, or an alternate tonnage measured under section 14302 of this
