SEC. 729. MINIMUM NUMBER OF LICENSED INDIVroUALS. Section 8301 of title 46, United States Code, is amended— (1) in subsection (a)(2), by inserting after "1,000 gross tons" the following: "as measured under section 14502 of this title, or an alternate tonnage measured under section 14302 of this title as prescribed by the Secretary under section 14104 of this title"; (2) in subsection (a)(3), by inserting after "at least 200 gross tons but less than 1,000 gross tons" the following: "as measured under section 14502 of this title, or an alternate tonnage measured under section 14302 of this title as prescribed by the Secretary under section 14104 of this title"; (3) in subsection (a)(4), by inserting after "at least 100 gross tons but less than 200 gross tons" the following: "as measured under section 14502 of this title, or an alternate tonnage measured under section 14302 of this title as prescribed by the Secretary under section 14104 of this title"; (4) in subsection (a)(5), by inserting after "300 gross tons" the following: "as measured under section 14502 of this title, or an alternate tonnage measured under section 14302 of this title as prescribed by the Secretary under section 14104 of this title; and (5) in subsection (b), by inserting after "200 gross tons" the following: "as measured under section 14502 of this title, or an alternate tonnage measured under section 14302 of this title as prescribed by the Secretary under section 14104 of this title". SEC. 730. OFFICERS'COMPETENCY CERTIFICATES CONVENTION. Section 8304(b)(4) of title 46, United States Code, is amended by inserting after "200 gross tons" the following: "as measured under section 14502 of this title, or an alternate tonnage measured under section 14302 of this title as prescribed by the Secretary under section 14104 of this title". SEC. 731. MERCHANT MARINERS'DOCUMENTS REQUIRED. Section 8701 of title 46, United States Code, is amended— (1) in subsection (a), by inserting after "100 gross tons" the following: "as measured under section 14502 of this title, or an alternate tonnage measured under section 14302 of this title as prescribed by the Secretary under section 14104 of this title"; and (2) in subsection (a)(6), by inserting after "1,600 gross tons" the following: "as measured xmder section 14502 of this title, or an alternate tonnage measured under section 14302
