PUBLIC LAW 106-507—NOV. 13, 2000 114 STAT. 2359 Public Law 106-507 106th Congress An Act To provide for the posthumous promotion of William Clark of the Commonwealth Nov. 13, 2000 of Virginia and the Commonwealth of Kentucky, co-leader of the Lewis and [jj j^ 3621] Clark Expedition, to the grade of captain in the Regular Army. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, SECTION 1. POSTHUMOUS PROMOTION OF WILLIAM CLARK, CO- LEADER OF THE LEWIS AND CLARK EXPEDITION, TO THE GRADE OF CAPTAIN IN THE REGULAR ARMY. William Clark, of the Commonwealth of Virginia and the Commonwealth of Kentucky, co-leader of the Lewis and Clark Expedition of 1804-1806, shall be deemed for all purposes to have held the grade of captain, rather than lieutenant, in the Regular Army, effective as of March 26, 1804, and continuing until his separation from the Army on February 27, 1807. SEC. 2. PROHIBITION OF BENEFITS. No person is entitled to any bonus, gratuity, pay, or allowance because of the provisions of section 1. Approved November 13, 2000.
