SEC. 612. TECHNICAL AND CONFORMING AMENDMENTS.

(a) EXECUTIVE SCHEDULE.— (1) ADMINISTRATOR.—Section 5313 of title 5, United States Code, is amended by adding at the end the following: ‘‘Administrator of the Federal Emergency Management Agency.’’. (2) DEPUTY ADMINISTRATORS.—Section 5314 of title 5, United States Code, is amended by adding at the end the following: ‘‘Deputy Administrators, Federal Emergency Management Agency.’’. (3) CHIEF MEDICAL OFFICER.—Section 5315 of title 5, United States Code, is amended by adding at the end the following: ‘‘Chief Medical Officer, Department of Homeland Security.’’. (b) OFFICERS OF THE DEPARTMENT.—Section 103(a) of the Homeland Security Act of 2002 (6 U.S.C. 113(a)) is amended— (1) by striking paragraph (5) and inserting the following: ‘‘(5) An Administrator of the Federal Emergency Management Agency.’’; (2) by striking paragraph (2); and (3) by redesignating paragraphs (3) through (10) (as amended by this subsection) as paragraphs (2) through (9), respectively. (c) REFERENCES.—Any reference to the Director of the Federal Emergency Management Agency, in any law, rule, regulation, certificate, directive, instruction, or other official paper shall be considered to refer and apply to the Administrator of the Federal Emergency Management Agency. (d) DEFINITION.—Section 2(6) of the Homeland Security Act of 2002 (6 U.S.C. 101(6)) is amended by inserting ‘‘fire,’’ after ‘‘safety,’’.
