(a)REPORTS RE QUI RE D.—Notl at er t h a nAp r i l 1,20 0 8 , the S e c retar y o f each m ilitary d epartment s hall s ub mit to the con g res - sional defense committees a report on the utili z ation of tuition assistance by members of the Armed F orces, w hether in the regular components of the Armed Forces or the reser v e components of the Armed Forces, under the j urisdiction of such military depart- ment during fiscal year 200 7 . (b) EL E M E N TS.— T he report with respect to a military depart- ment under subsection (a) shall include the following

(1) I nformation on the policies of such military department for fiscal year 2007 regarding utilization of, and limits on, tuition assistance by members of the Armed Forces under the jurisdiction of such military department, including an estimate of the number of members of the reserve components of the Armed Forces under the jurisdiction of such military depart- ment whose re q uests for tuition assistance during that fiscal year were unfunded. (2) Information on the policies of such military department for fiscal year 2007 regarding funding of tuition assistance for each of the regular components of the Armed Forces and each of the reserve components of the Armed Forces under the jurisdiction of such military department. SEC. 53 4 .NA V Y J UNIOR RESERVE OFFICERS ’ TRAININ G CORPS UNIT FOR SOUTHOLD , MATTITUC K , AND GREENPORT HIGH SCHOOLS. For purposes of meeting the requirements of section 20 3 1(b) of title 10, U nited States C ode, the Secretary of the Navy may and, to the e x tent the schools request, shall treat any two or more of the following schools (all in Southold, Suffol k County, New Y ork) as a single institution: (1) Southold H igh School. (2) M attituck High School. (3) G reenport High School. SEC. 535. REPORT ON TRANSFER OF ADMINISTRATION OF CERTAIN EDUCATIONAL ASSISTANCE PROGRAMS FOR MEMBERS OF THE RESERVE COMPONENTS. (a) REPORT REQUIRED.—Not later than September 1, 2008, the Secretary of D efense, in cooperation with the Secretary of V eterans Affairs, shall submit to the congressional defense committees and the Committees on Veterans Affairs of the Senate and House of Representatives a report on the feasibility and merits of transferring the administration of the educational assistance programs for mem- bers of the reserve components contained in chapters 1 6 06 and 1607 of title 10, United States Code, from the Department of Defense to the Department of Veterans Affairs. (b) ELEMENTS O F REPORT.—The report shall specifically address the following: (1) A discussion of the history and purpose of the edu- cational assistance benefits under chapters 1606 and 1607 of title 10, United States Code, and the data most recently avail- able, as of the date of the enactment of this Act, relating to the cost of providing such benefits and the projected costs NewYork.
