and ( 3 )afir m shall continue to receive (or be eligible to receive) ad j ustment assistance under cha p ter 3 of title I Iofthe T rade A ct of 197 4 , as in effect on the day before the effective date described in subsection (a)(1), for such period for which the firm meets the eligibility re q uirements of such chapter 3 as in effect on the day before such effective date, if the firm — (A) is certified as eligible for benefits under such chapter 3 pursuant to a petition filed under section 2 5 1 of the Trade Act of 1974 on or before such effective date; and (B) would otherwise be eligible to receive benefits under such chapter 3 as in effect on the day before such effective date .SEC.1892 . E XT E N S IO NO F T RAD EAD JU ST M ENT ASSISTANCE P RO -G RAMS. (a) FORW OR KE R S .— S ection 245(a) of the Trade Act of 1974 (19 U .S. C . 2317(a)) is amended by stri k ing ‘ ‘ D ecember 31, 2 0 07 ’ ’ and inserting ‘‘December 31, 2010’’. (b) TER MINAT ION.—Section 2 8 5 of the Trade Act of 1974 (19 U.S.C. 2271 note prec.) is amended— (1) in subsection (a), by striking ‘‘December 31, 2007’’ each place it appears and inserting ‘‘December 31, 2010’’; and (2) by amending subsection (b) to read as follows

‘‘(b) O T H ER ASSISTAN C E.— ‘‘(1) ASSISTANCE F OR FIRMS.— ‘‘(A) IN G ENERA L .— Ex cept as provided in subparagraph (B), technical assistance and grants may not be provided under chapter 3 after December 31, 2010. ‘‘(B) E X CE P TION.— N otwithstanding subparagraph (A), any technical assistance or grant approved under chapter 3 on or before December 31, 2010, may be provided— ‘‘(i) to the extent funds are available pursuant to such chapter for such purpose; and ‘‘(ii) to the extent the recipient of the technical assistance or grant is otherwise eligible to receive such technical assistance or grant, as the case may be. ‘‘(2) FARMERS.— ‘‘(A) IN GENERAL.—Except as provided in subparagraph (B), technical assistance and financial assistance may not be provided under chapter 6 after December 31, 2010. ‘‘(B) EXCEPTION.—Notwithstanding subparagraph (A), any technical or financial assistance approved under chapter 6 on or before December 31, 2010, may be pro - vided— ‘‘(i) to the extent funds are available pursuant to such chapter for such purpose; and ‘‘(ii) to the extent the recipient of the technical or financial assistance is otherwise eligible to receive such technical or financial assistance, as the case may be. ‘‘(3) ASSISTANCE FOR COMM U NITIES.—
