Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives oj the United Public building, States of America in Congress assembled, That the Secretary of the Treas- Pittsburgit ury be, and he is hereby, authorized and directed to cause to be constructed a suitable building at Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, for the accommodation of the circuit and district courts of the United States, the customs officers, internal-revenue officers, the postoftice, and any other offices of the general government in said city, at a cost not exceeding seven hundred and fifty thousand dollars. Approved, May 24, 1880. May 26, 1880, CHAP. 102.-An act for the erection of a public building at Montgomery, Alabama. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United Public building, States of America in Congress assembled, That the Secretary of the Treas- M°““9°'-“°"Y· Al"- ury be, and he is hereby, authorized and directed to purchase a site for, and cause to be erected, a suitable building, with proper nre-proof vaults therein, for the accommodation of the courts of the United States, postoffice, landoffice, internal-revenue offices, and other government offices at the city of Montgomery, Alabama. The site and buildings thereon when completed, upon plans and specifications to be previously made and approved by the Secretary of the Treasury, shall not exceed the cost of Promo. one hundred and twenty-five thousand dollars : Provided, That no money to be appropriated for this purpose shall be available until a valid title to the site of said building shall be vested in the United States, and until the State of Alabama shall have ceded to the United States exclusive jurisdiction over the same during the time the United States shall be or remain the owner thereof, for all purposes except the administration of the criminal laws of said State and the service of any civil pro- Promise. cess therein: And provided further, That the lot of land so purchased fbr a site shall be such as to aftbrd an open space between the building hereby authorized, and any other building, of not less than forty feet.
