Approved, March 2, 1889. · CHAP.417.—An act tin right of wa d other 'vil the m ton Marciiamn. and Old Point Railway g y an pn eggs to Ha P ‘ ’_’";""‘ Be fit enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, That the Hampton naiugrln me ou and Old Point Railway Company, a corporation chartered by the {:3,*}; ,§'§’,L§§,",§{ general assembly of Virginia by act approved February twenty- W¤vt*5g§>_n¤j‘§’¤l<?¤*¤¤- ourth, eighteen hundred and eighty-eight, and thereby em _ wered h$ii¤>¤,vs in constructing a railroad from the town of Hampton to Otdo Point Comfort, to build and operate the same, by and with the consent of the Congress of the United States, over any lands heretofore ceded by the State of Virginia to the United States, be, and it is hereby, authorized to construct and operate a street railway over and through the land ceded by Virginia to the United States at or near Fortress Monroe, from Old Point Comfort to the National Home for Disabled Volunteer Soldiers, and to Hampton Institute, Virginia, and right of way for said purpose is hereby granted to the said corporation, subject to the fo lowing provisions: First. Said railroad shall cross Mill Creek igpon a bridge distinct wwwfrom the existing bridge owned by the Unite States or upon such ni-nge. bridge additional to and united to the existing bridge as may be aproved by the Secretary of War. It shall follow the water line of Hampton Roads along the western side of the land ceded to the United States by Virginia, terminating at some point north of the Quartermastens Pier, or near to and on the west of the highway nearly opposite the main entrance to Fortress Monroe. Fourth. Charges or the transportation of any inmate, officer, or Chargesemployee of the Soldiers’ Home or Hampton Institute, or an enlisted man or civilian employee of the military force at Fortress Klonroe over the entire line o said road shall not exceed ten cents.
