A of War be, an he is hereby, authorized and directed to cause to be m°m”l’i.f.l°,}{l°5F,?'b, 1,. investigated by the Quartermasters Department of the United States '·=¤*·*¢**·°d· Army the circumstances, character, and extent of the alleged occupation by the United States military authorities, for Government purposes, during the late war, of the college buildings and grounds of Saint J osgph Commercial College, of Saint Joseph, Missouri, and the actual v ue of the use and occupation of the same, and to find and award, and to certify to the Secretary of the Treasury what amount, if any, is equitab y due to the trustees of said college from the United States as the reasonable value of such use and· occu a- tion; and that the Secretary of the Treasury be, and he is hereby, bm‘§¤‘;¤\¢:c¤*¤f¤¤¤¤¤ authorized and directed to pay to said trustees, or their successors, ' out of any money in the Treasury not otherwise appropriated, the amount, i any, so found to be due from the United States; and the acceptance by said trustees of any sum paid under the provisions . hereof shall bein full satisfaction of all claim, of every name and nature, for said occupation, or in any manner arising or growing out of the same. Mvvh 21889- Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, That the Secretary J. W. Parish and of the Treasury be, and is herep-y, authorized and directed to pay to °"g',§?,§,,{?,g, t0_ Joseph W. Parish, George C. adley and William L. Huse, comsing the firm of J. W. arish and ompany, out of any money in the Treasury not otherwise appropriated, the sum of eighteen thousand five hundred dollars, the same to be com ensation in full to said Erm for losses sustained by it by reason of the refusal of the officers of the United States to receive and pay for five thousand tons of ice which said Parish and Company had been directed to furnish under a contract dated December t irtieth, eighteen hundred and sixty-three, and signed by the medical pprveyor of the United States Army stationed at Louisville, Kentuc y, and by said Parish and Company, and approved by the Acting Surgeon-General of the United States. · Approved, March 2, 1889. ‘ CHAP. 476.-An act for the relief of Lieutenant-Colonel Eyre. Eyre, late lieutenant·colonel of the First Cali- er. _, fornia Cavalry, be relemed from all further liability on account of ` his receipts and disbursements of funds as acting quarterrnaster, and the pro r officers of the United States Treasury are authorized and directedm to cancel said liability, whether the same be pending in court or has become a judgment, and to close the accounts of said Colonel Edward E.
