Whereas the Congress of the United States, on the eighth day of Pr¤¤¤1>1<·>· April, seventeen hundred and seventy-seven, agreed to the erection of a monument to the memory of General Hugh Merce1·, at Fredericksburg, in the State of Virginia, and prescribed an inscription to be placed thereon; and lVhereas up to this time nothing has been done toward carrying into effect the action then taken: Therefore, Be it enacted by the Semte and Home ;>ZfRq>re.sentattves of the United States of America in Ormgress assemble , That the sum of twenty-five c£¤¤¤r¤1 Hugh Merthousand dollars be, and the same is hereby, appropriated, out of any Agympnatiou for money in the Treasury not otherwise appr0pr1ate , for the erection, §j§f,,°,§‘,°{,.,g‘d;‘j,{’c‘}Ll; at Fredericksburg, in the State of Virginia of a monument to the burg.
