CHAP. 1.—An Act To amend section twenty of an Act entitled "An Act to D¤¢>¢¤¤b¤r 15.1902. simplify the laws in relation to the collection of the revenues," approved June tenth, eighteen hundred and ninety.' ` Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Rgiresentatives of the Zhiited ~ States of America in Congress assembled, That section twenty of an Q,‘g°°¤;6¤v¤¤¤€,0 Act entitled "An Act to simplify the laws in relation to the collection ameuhed. ’ p' ' of the revenues," approved une tenth, eighteen hundred and ninety, R.s..see.2em,p_s73, be, and the same is hereby, amended so as to read as follows: “ Sec. 20. That any merchandise deposited in any public or private mgggimyglihfwm bonded warehouse may be withdrawn for c0nsumption within three mr e¤¤s¤mpum{m”°S years from the date of original importation on payment of the duties and charges to which it may be subject by law at the time of such withdrawal: Provided, That the same rate of duty shall be collected .@"'*’;!";m,,M rm thereon as may be imposed by law upon like articles of merchandise ¤1¤•>¤ giwm. imported at the time of the withdrawal: And provided further That ,,§§§'““"'°· °*°-· •“’· nothing herein shall aifect or impair existing provisions of law in regard to the disposal of perishable or explosive articles. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Rrifresen tatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, at the Secretary of the §’§,§§c“‘,f_‘,f§'§{‘*}(_€éw Treasury is hereby authorized to increase the compensation of inspect- gg;_:`¤¤1<>w¤<1 uddiors of customs at the port of New York as he may think advisable and R.S.g·cl;:2’T33,p. proper, by adding to their present compensation a sum not exceeding one dollar per day, which additional compensation shall be for wor now performed by them at unusual hours, for which no compensation is now allowed, and shall include work performed by said inspectors at night in examining passengers baggage, and also as reimbursement for expenses incurred by them for meals and transportation while in the discharge or performance of their official duties.
