December 22»19U?~ CHAP. 9.-An Act To provide for the payment of the expenses and C0mpe11S&— “ tion of the Anthracite Coal Strike Qommission appointed by the President of the United States at the request of certain coal operators and miners. _ Be it enacted by t/we Senate and House of]? esentatives of the United Stg,f(*;*gj,$;f,;,,0§,?“‘ States ofzimeiica in Oon ress assembled, Tx the sum of fifty thou- Appmprimou for sand dollars, or so much thereof as may be necessary, is hereby appro- °‘*‘°"°°‘ priated, out of any moneys in the Treasury not otherwise appropriated, or the payment of such eirpenses as haye been, or may be, incurred by the Anthracite Coal Strike Commission in the performance of 1ts duties, such Commission having been a pointed by the President to "inquire into, consider, and pass upon the questions in controversy in connection with the strike in the anthracite region and the causes out °°““’°"“"“°"‘ of which the controversy arose," and for the compensation of the members of said Commission, who are not in the civil or military service of the Government, four thousand dollars each; and for the , employees of the said Commission, who are not officers or clerks in the civil or military service of the Government, such compensation as may {,’;Qg,"g,hu,,0wmce_ be iixed by the said Commission: Provided, That the members of said Commission and the assistant recorders shall be allowed the sum of fifteen dollars per day each, and the other employees of the Commission in the service of the Government, twelve dollars per day each, in lieu of traveling and all other `expenses. D*°*’°”‘i"8 °¥°°*· A disbursing agent for the Commission is hereby authorized, and the expenses, compensation, and per diem allowance herein provided for shall be paid by him on vouchers certified by the recorder and approved by the chairman of the Commission, and the accountin officers of the Treasury shall credit the said disbursing agent witi the amounts so certified and paid.
