Cus. 34-L6, 3447. 1906. 32] gartens, in charge of colored schools shall receive a salary of one thousand three hundred dollars per annum, with an annual increase of fifty dollars per year for live years; the director of primary instruction shall receive a salary of one thousand eight hundred dollars per year, with an increase of fifty dollars per year for live years; the assistant director of primary instruction, in charge of colored schools, shall receive a salary of one thousand four hundred dollars, with an increase of fifty dollars per year for live years. Directors and assistant directors shall be appointed at the minimum salary. PAY or ormomns. Sec. 9. Director of intermediate instruction, su ervisor of manual training, and supervising principals who may be hereafter appointed shall be appointed at the minimum salary provided in this Act unless the said salary is less than` that received at the time of his appointment. Sec. 10. When a teacher is on trial or being investigated he or she T**¤l¤°“°¤¤¤°¤- shall have the right to be attended by counsel and by at least one friend oféiis or herr selection. A general plan for the consolidation of the public schools in the District of Columbia, and the abandonment and sale of such school buildings and sites as may by them be deemed necessary and desirable for the best good of the public school service. Second. A general plan for the character, size, and location of school buildings in accordance with which the educational and business interests of the public school system may be subserved. Sec. 12. That wherever the masculine pronoun occurs in this Act it ¤‘··•·•·fw¤r<l·•l¤¤·•<=¤. shall be construed to apply to either male or female teachers or cmployees of the board of education. Sec. 13.
