[Private, No. 2297.] - _ Ch I S M Demm Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United m. neStates of America in Congress assembled, That the Secretaiky of the ,,f°“"m°“‘ ‘° “‘“°° Treasury be, and he is hereby, authorized and directed to re und and pay, out of an money in the Treasury not otherwise appropriated, any statute of limitation to the contrary notwithstanding, to the legal representatives of the estate of Charles M. Demarest, late of Warwick, in the State of New York, the sum of one hundred and twenty-two dollars and twenty-six cents, being the amount due on one first-mort- Ege preferred bond issued by the Champaign, Havana and Western ilway Com ny, numbered two hundred and fifty-one, and dated July first, eighteen hundred and seventy-nine, and aid into the United StatesTreasury on February twenty-third, eighteenhundred and ninety- eight, by the clerk of the circuit court of the United States for the ¤·¤··¤°°·°°°·P·*”6· southern district of Illinois, in accordance with section nine hundred and ninety-six, as amended b the Act of February nineteenth, eighteen Wl- 2**- 1*-57* hundred and ninety-seven ('Iywent -ninth Statutes at Large, page tive hundred and seventy-eight), whicb provides that money remaining in the registry of court unclaimed for ten years shall be deposited to the credit of the United States. Allen, of New York, New York, a duplicate in lien of United States four per centum registered bond of the funded loan of nineteen hundred and seven, numbered one hundred and forty-one thousand six hundred and ninety-four, for one hundred dollars, inscribed in his name, and alle ed to have been lost after having been Q‘§‘f°· assigned in blank: Hwided, That the said Charles L. Allen shall first file in the Treasury a bond in the penal sum of double the amount of the principal of said registered bond and the interest that would accrue thereon to the date of its maturity, with good and sufficient sureties, residents of the United States, to be approved by the Secretary of the Treasury, with condition to indemnify and save harmless the United States from any loss because of the lost bond herein described. Tn3E1s, Nc. may Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the Un {ted Ammh Luca, States of America in Congress assembled, That the Secretary of the Pension increased. Interior be, and he is hereby, authorized and directed to place on the ension roll, subject to the provisions and limitations of the pension liaws, the name of Amanda Lucas, widow of John Lucas, late of Company E, Sixteenth Regiment United States Infantry, war with Mexico, and lieutenanbcolone Seventh Regiment Kentucky Volunteer Infantry, and y her a pension at the rate of twenty-five dollars per month in lieu otptihat she is now receiving.
