A PROCLAMATION. _ WHEREAS, the Grand Canyon Forest Reserve, in the Territory Grand canyon . of Arizona, was established by proclamation dated February twen- H$L°?t R°°°"°’ tieth, eighteen hundred and ninety-three, under the name of the $;'ff*'§§’°·_ ,06, Grand Canon Forest Reserve, and was enlarged, by proclamation Ame, pI goes. dated May sixth, nineteen hundred and tive, to include additional P°°t’ p` 3263' lands in the Territory of Arizona; ‘ And whereas, it appears that the public good would be promoted by further adding to the said forest reserve certain lands, in the . Territory of Arizona, which are in part covered with timber, and by excluding therefrom certain lands; Now, therefore, I, Theodore Roosevelt, President of the United cha!;;eg*·d¤**¢¤ States of America, by virtue of the power in me vested by the Act v0l.:10,p.:s0. of Congress, approved June fourth, eighteen hundred and ninety- seven, entitled, "An Act Making appropriations for sundry civil expenses of the Government for the fiscal year ending June thirtieth, eighteen hundred and ninety-eight, and for other purposes,” do proclaim that the boundaries of the aforesaid Grand Canyon Forest Reserve are hereby further changed, and that they are now as shown on the diagram forming a part hereof. This proclamation will not take effect upon any lands withdrawn Lands excepted. or reserved, at this date, from settlement, entry, or other appropriation, for any purpose other than forest uses, or which may be covered by any prior valid claim, so long as the withdrawal, reservation, or claim exists. The lands hereby excluded from the reserve and restored to the Restored lands public domain shall be open to settlement from the date hereof, but °""“ t° S°m°m"'"‘ shall not be subject to entry, filing, or selection until after ninety days’ notice by such publication as the Secretary of the Interior may prescribe.
