The court may, at_the instance of the attorney or solicitor 1v.s.,ssl-.1uso,a1s¤. appearing in behalf of the United States, make an order in any case pending therein, directing any claimant in such case to appear, upon reasonable notice, before any commissioner of the court and be examined on oath touching any or all matters pertaining to said claim.
