Taft, President of the United States V°*‘ °°’ "‘ 3** of America by virtue of the power in me vested by the Act of Congress approved june fourth, eighteen hundred and nmety-seven, entrtled "An Act Making appropriations for sundry civil expenses of the Government for the Hscal year ending June thirtieth, eighteen hundred and ninety-eight, and for other puriposes," do proclaim that the boundaries of the Kaniksu National orest are hereby changed and that they are now as shown on the diagram forming a part hereof. {¤,§·{3¤:l¢¤r¤é¤1¤¤d=· This proclamation shall not prevent the settlement and entry of ' ’°' any lands heretofore <§>ened to settlement and entry under the Act of Con ress approved une eleventh, nineteen hundred and six, entitled "§n Act ,0 provide for the entry of Agricultural lands within forest reserves.’ mm mm ¤¤ The lands hereby excluded from the Kaniksu National Forest which "°°"° °°‘““'“‘ are not embraced rn withdrawals for administrative sites for use in the management of the Forest, or in any other reservation or appropriation, shall be restored to the public domain and become su ject to settlement under the ieneral provisions of the homestead laws on such date and after suc notice by publication as the Secretary of the Interior may prescribe, but shall not become subject to entry, filing, selection, or other form of appropriation until the expiration of thirty days from the date so fixed, an no person will be permitted to gain or exercise any right whatever under any settlement or occupation begun prior to suc date, and all such settlement and occupation are hereby forbidden. ’ M¤¤¤¤¤>¤d· It is not intended by this proclamation to release any land from reservation except the areas indicated on the diagram as eliminated, nor to reserve aéréy land not heretofore embraced in a National Forest.
