A PROCLAMATION WHEREAS an Executive Order dated July first, nineteen hun- uvnwmvshzre Nadred and eight, directed that the_Uncompahgre, Fruita, and parts of the Oura and Montezuma N ational Forests should constitute the Une0mE National Forest; and ‘ it appears that the public good will be promoted by excluding from the Uncompahgre National Forest certain lands within the State of Colorado; Now, therefore, I, William H. Taft, President of the United States A¤•¤1m¤¤1¤¤·¤¤- of America, by virtue of the power in me vested by the Act of Congress a proved June fourth, eighteen hundred and ninety-seven, VM- ¤¤.1»-¤¤· entitletl ‘An Act Making appropriations for sundry civil expenses of the Government for the fiscal year ending June thirtieth, eighteen hundred and ninetéy-eight, and for other 1`purposes," do proclaim that the boundaries o the Uncompahge ational Forest are hereby changed and that they are now as shown on the diagram forming a part hereof. _ his reclamation shall not prevent the settlement and entry of fugidw ¤¤¤¤ ¤°* •f- any lands heretofore opened to settlement and entry under the Act ' of Co ss approved une eleveuth,·nineteen hundred and six, enti— V¤¥· M v· 2% tled ggiiie Act To provide for the entry of Agricultural lands within forest reserves." The lands hereby excluded from the Uncompahgm National ,,,,$"§m'§,‘,§f""* “' Forest which are not embraced in withdrawals for a ministrative sites for use in the management of the Forest or in any other reservation or appropriation shall be restored to the lpublic domain and become subject to settlement under the genera provisions of the homestead laws on such date and after such notice b publication as the Secretary of the Interior may prescribe, but shall not become subject to entry, filing, selection, or other form of appropriation until the expiration of thirty days from the date so fixe , and no person will be permitted to gain or exercise any right whatever under any settlement or occupation begun prior to such date, and all such settlement and occupation are hereby forbidden. It is not intended by this proclamation to release any land from ·¤¤¤¤•°*°**· reservation except the areas mdicated on the diagram as eliminated. nor to reserve any land not heretofore embraced in a National Forest.
