The said mm board shall consider all cases for the retirement and relief of members of the police department and the firs d¤;_partmeut rendered necessary or expedient under the provisions 0 this Act, and all applications for the relief of widows and children under sixteen years of age. In evcgcaso of retirement of an member of either of 8¤r:¤¤¤’¤ Mwavsaid departments the ard of police and fire surgeons shall certify, in writing, to the said retiring and relief board the physical condition of the member for whom retirement and relief is sought. The said K•¤*¤•¤ retiring and relief board shall give written notice to any member of said departments under consideration by it for retirement and relief to appear before the board and give such evidence under oath as he may desire and the proceedings of the board shall be reduced to writing ami shall show tho data of a3>point1uc¤t> of such member,. his e, his record in the service, an any other information that ma aiu pertinent to the matter of his retirement and relief.
