IP¤b· R¤¤-» N¤· 48-] Resolved by the Senate and House ¢ZdRe'pl1;se·ntat·ives of the United States of America in Congress assemb , t $23,000, or so much ,‘j$_}_¤*¤*;*g-I thereof as may be necessary, palyable from any money in the Treasury mmmmm or asm, not otherwise plpipropria an from the revenues of the District of §i°¤§;.i°°°‘°"] "'°' Columbia in eq parts, is hereby appropriated to enable the Commissioners of the District of Columbia to maintain public order and protect life and property in said District from the twenty-eighth of ebruary to the tenth of March, nineteen hundred and seventeen, both inc usive, including the employment of personal services, pay- ment of allowances, traveling expenses, hire o means of transportation, and other incidental expenses in the discretion of the commissioners. . Said commissioners are hereby authorized and directed to make •¤I:¤°5-°1i°eiil"' °°°` all reasonable regulations necessary to secure such preservation of public order and protection of life and_ property and fixing fares by public conveyance, and to make specia rpgulations respecting the standing, movements, and operating of vehi es of whatever character or kind during said period and fixhipg fares to be charged for the use mmm of the same. Such regulations s be m force one week prior to ·"°* said inauguration, during said inauguration, and one week subsequent thereto, and shall be pub ished in one or more of the daily newspapers published in the Distrnct of Columbia; and m such other manner asthe commissioners may deem best to acq\uaint the public with the same; and no penalty prescribed for the v1o ation of any of such regulations Pun? fw mb shall be enforced until five days after such publication. Ang person em, violating any of such regulations shall be liable foreach suc offense to a fine not to exceed $100 in the police court of said District, and in default of payment thereof to_impr1sonment in the workhouse of said Yum cm District for not longer than sixty days. And the sum of $2,000, or ¤¤u¤,m. so much thereof as may be necessary, is herebgihkewise azzpopropriated, to be expended by the Commissioners of the strict of _ umbia for the construction, rent, maintenance, and expenses mcident to_ the operation of temporary (public-comfort_ stations, first-aid stations, and information ooths uring the period aforesaid, including the employment of personal SGYVIGGS.
