Sec. 2. That the Commissioners of the District of Columbia are m“'“““““°“P°"""”* hereby authorized to permit the committee on illumination of the citizens' executive committee for the entertainment of the Confederate_ Veterans’ Association to stretch suitable conductors with sufficient supports wherever necessary, for the urpose of effecting the said illumination within the District of Columbia: Provided, That i.>ar¤`i$°i»°i¤¤.. the said conductors shall not be used for the conveying of electrical currents more than three days after the close of said reunion, and shall, with their supports, be fully and entirely removed from the streets and avenues of the said city of Washington on or before ten days after said reunion: Provided {urther, That the stretching and m;?QZ,_g M '°'°°" removing of the said wires shall e under the supervision of the Commissioners of the District of Columbia, who shall see that the provisions of this resolution are enforced; that all needful precautions are taken for the protection of the plublic; and that the pavement of any street, avenue, or alley distur ed is replaced in as good condition as before entering upon the work herein authorized: Provided Nmraumzyrmamfurther, That no expense or damage on account of or due to the **8*- stretching, operation, or removing of the said temporary overhead conductors s. all be incurred by the United States or the District of _ Columbia: And further, That if it shall be necessary to ml§,,".§',,‘§_,}',,"f¥""*’*“" erect wires for ummatron purposes over any park or reservation m the District of Columbia that the work of erection and removal of said wires shall be under the supervision of the official in charge of said park or reservation, Lum, GW K Sec. 3. That the Secretary of War and the Secretary of the Navy swam. be, and they are hereby, authorized to loan to the chairman of the subcommittee in charge of street decorations, or his successor in said office, for the purpose of decorating the streets of the city_ of Washington, District o Columbia, on the occasion of the reunion of the Confederate Veterans’ Association, nineteen hundred and seventeen such of the United States ensigns, flag? (except battle flags), signal numbers, and so forth, belonginito the Govemment of the United States as in their judgment may e spared and are not in use by the Government at the time of the reunion.
