A PROCLAMATION
WHEREAS, certain lands within the State of North Carolina eSQ"§°g N°“°¤¤‘*"”·
acquired by the United States under authority of the Act of Congress niniimtis.
approved -Iarch iirst, nineteen hundred and eleven (Thirty-sixth `°‘3°’°‘°m‘
Statutes at Large, gage nine hundred and sixty-one), entitled "An
Act to enable any tate to cooperate with any other State or States,
or with the United States, for the protection of the watersheds of
navigable streams, and to appoint a commission for the acquisition
of lands for the purpose of conserving the navigpbility of navigable
rivers," were, on the twenty-ninth day of Septem er, 1916, designated
as the Pisgah National Forest by the Secretary of Agriculture under
authority of section eleven of said Act:
NOW, THEREFORE, I, WOODROW WILSON, President of the N,§§,f{,g;*0§,LaF°*¤St-
United States of America, by virtue of the power in me vested by »;0n.:¤s,p scsi.
section eleven of said Act‘and by section twenty-four of the Act of l°"2°’p‘"°°‘
March three, eighteen hundred and ninety-one, entitled, "An Act to
repeal timbercullture laws and for other purposes/’ do proclaim that
the boundaries of the Pisgah National orest as designated by the
Secretary of Agriculture, are as shown on the diagram attached hereto
and made a part hereof, and that all lands within such boundaries
acquired by the United States under authority of the Act of March
first, nineteen hundred and eleven, shall be reserved and admhiistered
as a National Forest.
IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and
caused the seal of the United States to be ailixed. ·

Act of Congress, approved August eleventh, nineteen hundredy and
sixteen, entitled, "An Act making appropriations for the Department
of Agriculture for the fiscal {year ending June thirtieth, nineteen
hundred and seventeen, and or other (purposes/’ do proclaim that
there are hereby designated and set asi e for the protection of game
animals, birds, and dsh, all lands of the United States within the
Pisgah National Forest in the State of North Carolina, purchased
unt er the provisions of the Act of March first, nineteen hundred and
eleven (Thirt -sixth Statutes at Large, page nine hundred and sixty- V°*·’*°»P· 96*-
one), entitled: "An Act to enable any State to coo erate with any
other State or States, or with the United States, for dire protection of
watersheds of navigable streams, and to appoint a comnnssion for the
acquisition of lands for the purpose of conserving the navigability of
navigable streams," and Acts sup lementary thereto and amendatory
thereof, as shown on the diagram fldrming a part hereof, to be known as
the Pisgah National Game Preserve.
