REVENUE ACT OF 1918.

Title declared. "Sec. 1303. That this Act may be cited as the 'Revenue Act of 1917.'"

Title of this Act.Sec. 1405. That this Act may be cited as the "Revenue Act of 1918."

Payment of $60 to persons in active armed and separated therefrom.Sec. 1406. That all persons serving in the military or naval forces of the United States during the present war who have, since April 6, service during the war, 1917, resigned or been discharged under honorable conditions (or, in the case of reservists, been placed on inactive duty), or who at any time hereafter (but not later than the termination of the current enlistment or term of service) in the case of the enlisted personnel and female nurses, or within one year after the termination of the present war in the case of officers, may resign or be discharged under honorable conditions (or, in the case of reservists, be placed on inactive duty), shall be paid, in addition to all other amounts due them in pursuance of law, $60 each.

Persons not entitled.
Not reporting for duty
This amount shall not be paid (1) to any person who though appointed or inducted into the military or naval forces on or prior to November 11, 1918, had not reported for duty at his station on or prior to such date; Discharged with one month's pay. or (2) to any person who has already received one month's pay under the provisions of section 9 of the Act entitled "An Act to authorize the President to increase temporarily the military establishment of the United States," approved May 18, 1917Ante, p. 82.; Entitled to retired pay. or (3) to any person who is entitled to retired pay; Heirs, etc. or (4) to the heirs or legal representatives of any person entitled to any payment under this section who has died or may die before receiving such payment. Limited to one separation. In the case of any person who subsequent to separation from the service as above specified has been appointed or inducted into the military or naval forces of the United States and has been or is again separated from the service as above specified, only one payment of $60 shall be made.

Early payment required.}}The above amount, in the case of separation from the service on or prior to the passage of this Act, shall be paid as soon as practicable after the passage of this Act, and in the case of separation from the service after the passage of this Act shall be paid at the time of such separation.

Appropriations available. The amounts herein provided for shall be paid out of the appropriations for "pay of the Army" and "pay of the Navy," respectively, by such disbursing officers as may be designated by the Secretary of War and the Secretary of the Navy.

Regulations to be made The Secretary of War and the Secretary of the Navy respectively shall make all regulations necessary for the enforcement of the provisions of this section.

Sec. 1407. That the provisions of section 5 of the Act entitled "An Act making appropriations for the service of the Post Office Department for the fiscal year ending June 30, 1918, and for other purposes", Vol. 39, p. 1069. approved March 3, 1917, relating to intoxicating liquors in interstate commerce, as amended by section 1110 of an Act entitled "An Act to provide revenue to defray war expenses, and for other purposes," approved October 3, 1917 Ante, p. 329., be, and the same are hereby, made applicable to the District of Columbia.


Contracts, etc.
Copies of all, for Government work, since April 6, 1917. to be filed with Commissioner on his request.
Sec. 1408. That every person who on or after April 6, 1917, has entered into any contract, undertaking, or agreement, with the United States, or with any department, bureau, officer, commission, board, or agency under the United States or acting in its behalf, or with any other person having contract relations with the United States, for the performance of any work or the supplying of any materials or property for the use of or for the account of the United States, shall, within thirty days after a request of the Commissioner therefor, file with the Commissioner a true and correct copy of every such contract, undertaking, or agreement.
