PROCLAMATIONS, 1917. 1671 Br THE PRESIDENT or THE UNITED STATES or Amnmoa A PROCLAMATION VVHEREAS it ap ears that certain of the lands, within the State of F$‘é*;"’*$0• N°“°¤*' Colorado, describedp in the Act of Congress approved September gi-€¤i¤b1¤.w eighth, nineteen hundred and sixteen (39 Stat., 850), foun by the ° ‘3°‘”' ‘ Secretary of Agficiilture to be chiefly valuable for the production of timber or for the protection of stream flow, should be added to the Colorado National Forest; and WHEREAS certain lands immediatelg heretofore forming a part of the Pike National Forest, within the tate of Colorado, should be transferred to and made a lpart of the Colorado National Forest; Now, therefore, I, WOO ROW WILSON, President of the United **‘°° °“““’€°"· States of America, by virtue of the power in me vested by the afore- V I 39 850 said Act of September eighth, nineteen hundred and sixteen (39 Stat., °' "°‘ ‘ 850), entitled "An Act Authorizing the addition of certain lands to the Colorado and Pike National Forests, Colorado," and also by the Act V°‘·**"·P-36- of Congress approved June fourth, eighteen hundred and ninety-seven, (30 Stat., 11 at 34 and 36), entitled "An Act Making appropriations for sundry civil expenses of the Government for the Esca year ending June thirtieth, eig teen hundred and ninetgr-eight, and for other purposes/’ do dproclaim that the Colorado ational Forest is hereby changed an that its boundaries are now as shown upon the diagram hereto annexed and formingba part hereof; and that this proclamation and that changing the oundaries of the Pike National Forest, Anu. p. 1670- which I have also signed this sameday, are made and are intended to » be and shall be considered as one act to become effective simul-

P ed, that the Secretary of the Interior, mauthorized by the uemsadi eaiglémr. aforesaid Act of September eighth, nineteen hundred and sixteen, ’°"'°‘*· may, in his discretion, continue hereafter to allow additional entriw wit in the areas added to the Forest under said act under the provisions of section three of the Act approved February nineteenth, V°’- 3% P- 957- nineteen hundred and nine, entitled ‘An Act to provide for an enlarged homestead," as amended by the Act approved March third, nineteen hundred and fifteen (38 Stat., 956). The withdrawal made by this proclamation shall, as to all lands mmf@”·“°··”°* which are at this date legally appropriated under the public land laws or reserved for any apublic purpose, be subject to, and shall not interfere with or defeat leg rights imder such appropriation, nor prevent the use for such public purpose of lands so reserved, so long as such appropriation is l all maintained, or such reservation remains in orce.
