Roziene is made, for the purpose of securing designs and plans for, and the construction of, a memorial archway to be erected at the intersection of Clay Street, extended, in the said city of Vicksburg, within the bounds of the Vicksburg National Military Park. Sec. 2. That the aforesaid memorial archway shall be constructed _,X{f"(§, under the supervision and approval of the Secretary of War, and the work shall be committed to a commission, to be known as the “Vicksburg Memorial Arch Commission/’ com osed of three members who served in the Civil War and partici ated in the sie o and defense of Vicksbrzrig, in eighteen hundred and sixty-three. %)ne of the mem- °°""°°°"°°‘ bers sh be the president of the National Association of Vicksburg Veterans, who served in the Federal Army; one shall be the chairman of the Vicksburg National Park Commission; and one shall be a resident of the State of Mississippi, who served in the Confederate Army, and who shall be designated y thegovernor of the State of sissippi. The duties of the commissionshall be to secure appropriate D““°‘·°*°· designs and plans for the said archway, to select and employ the architects and sculptors for the erection of the same, and_t0 make contracts therefor not exceeding the available amount herein approprxated.
