SEC . 2 . That section 7 of said Act is hereby amended by substitut- Maximum Paying a colon for the period, volume 42, Statutes at Large, page 629, 0 Vol. 42, p . 629, amend- line 4, and adding the f ollowing proviso at the end of said Provi so in sert ed . paragraph "Provided further, That when the total base pay, pay for length a cesta etc .,of'comms- o f ser vice and allow ances for subs isten ce an d re ntal of qu arte rs sioned warrant ofrcers. authorized in this Act for any commissioned warrant officer shall U.S. Code, p. 1187. exceed $5,000 a year, the amount of the allowances to which such of ficer is ent itled shall be red uced b y the a mount above $5,000 , and the pay and allowances of a commissioned warrant officer receiving the pay and allowances of the second pay period shall not exceed $3,158 a year for the first three years of commissioned service, $3,258 a year for the next three years of commissioned service, $3,358 a year for the next three years, and $3,458 a year for from nine to ten years' commissioned service." SE C. 3 . That section 10,of said Act is hereby amended by striking Navy nt do fco rs, out in paragraph 1, lines 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5 of said paragraph, volume Guard. 42, Statutes at Large age 63 0, the follo wing : on and after July 1, 122, the monthly base pay of warrant edM st r stricken out . p . 1188. officers of the Navy and Coast Guard shall be as follows

SEC. 4.
