CHAP . 287.-An Act To extend the times for commencing and completing [Public, No . 750.] the construction of a bridge across the Allegheny River at Kittanning, in the county of Armstrong, in the State of Pennsylvania . Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Repre sentatives of the Alleg heny Rive r . Time extend ed for United States o f America in Congress assembled, That the times b ridgi ng, at Kittan- for commencing and completing the construction of the bridge n ng, Pa. across the Allegheny River, at or near Market Street, in the borough of Kittanning, county of Armstrong, in the State of Pennsylvania, authorized to be built by the county of Armstrong, a county of the State of Pennsylvania, or its successors and assigns, by the Act of Congress approved February 16, 1928, are hereby extended one and three years, respe ctivel y, fro m Febr uary 16, 1929 . Maintenance. CHAP. 288 .-An Act To define the terms "child" and "children" as used in the Acts of May 18, 1920, and June 10, 1922. Be it enacted by the Senate and House o f Representatirves of the United States of America in Congress assembled, That the words " child " and " children " as used in section 12 of the Act approved May 18, 1920 (Forty-first Statutes, page 604), and in section 4 of the Act approved June 10, 1922 (Forty-second Statutes, page 627), and in section 12 of the Act approved June 10, 1922 (Forty-second Statutes, page 631) as amended by the Act approved June 1, 1926 (Forty-fourth Statutes, page 680), shall be held to include, legitimate children, stepchildren, and adopted children, where such legitimate children, stepchildren, or adopted children are in fact dependent upon the person claiming dependency allowance . Approved, February 21, 1929 . CHAP. 289 .-An Act To provide for the commemoration of the battles of Brices Cross Roads, Mississippi, and Tupelo, Mississippi . Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congre ss assembled, That for the pur- pose of co mmemo rati ng th e bat tles of B rices Cros s Ro ads, Missi s- sippi, and Tupelo, Mississippi, the Secretary of War is authorized and directed to (1) acquire not to exceed one acre of land, free of cost to the U nited States, at e ach of the ab ove-na med ba ttle f ields, (2) fence each parcel of land so acquired, (3) build an approach to each such parcel of land, and (4) erect a suitable marker on each such parcel of land . SEC. 2 . There is authorized to be appropriated $10,000, or so much thereof as may be necessary, to carry out the provisions of section 1 of this Act. SEC . 3. Each parcel of land acquired under section 1 of this Act shall b e unde r the jurisd iction and c ontrol of the Secre tary o f War, and there is authorized to be appropriated for the maintenance of each such parcel of land, fence, approach, and marker a sum not to exceed $250 per annum .
