For groceries, provisions, light, fuel, soap, oil, lamps, candles, clothing, shoes, forage, horseshoeing, medicines, medical attendance, transportation, labor, sewing machines, fixtures, books, magazines, and other supplies which represent greater educational advantages, sta tioner y, hors es, veh icles, harnes s, cows , pigs , fowls , sheds , fenc es, repairs, typewriting, stenography, and other necessary items, including compensation not exceeding $1,500 for additional labor or services, for identifying and pursuing escaped inmates and for rew ards for thei r capture, fo r transportati on and other necessary expenses incident to securing suitable homes for paroled or discharged girls, and for maintenance of nonpassenger-carrying motor vehicles, 38,000 .
