The Secretary of the Treasury is authorized and directed u?dTarmstroBot (talk)J~rt;=- to pay, out of any money in the Treasury not otherwise appropriated, . to the following officers and former officers of the Army of the United States the sums herein stated: (1) Major Earl J. Atkisso~, Chemica.l Wa!fare Services, the sum so~alor Earl 1. Atkis· of $500, to cover the loss of hIS automoblle shipped on a Government bill of lading on August 30)..1917, and not subsequently delivered to him, but later salvaged as uovernment property and sold for $291, which sum was deposited in the Treasury of the United States as miscellaneous receipts. (2) Major Delbert Ausmus (now captain), C.oast Artillery Corps, m:~IGr Delbert Aus· the sum of $853.60, being the amount he has refunded to the United States to cover the loss of public funds for which he was responsible, stolen in February, 1920. (3) William A. Bailey (fonnerly first lieutenant, Signal Corps, A 1.~el!le~ant William agent officer) the sum of $936.16, being the amount he has refunded . III e). to the United States to partially cover the loss of public funds for which he was responsible, stolen between October 30, 1919, and December 20, 1919. . (4) Captain Ralph E. Bower, the sum of $135.10, being the B';:.fr~aln Ralph E. amount he has refunded to the United States to cover the loss by fire, on or about March 6, 1920, of public funds for which he was responsible. , (5) Captain Wilham Bowman, Quartennaster Corps (now war- B';:~~ Wllliam rant officer), the sum of $450, being the amount he has refunded to the United States to partially cover the loss of public funds for which he was responsible, lost in February, 1919. (6) Henry C. Chappell (formerly captain, National Guard, C~"J':{L Henry C. retIred), the sum of $58.50, being the amount paid by him to various newspaper companies for advertisements published in May, 1917. soliciting enlistments in the Quartennaster Reserve Corps. (7) H. D . Cory (fonnerly captain, Quartermaster Corps), the Captain H. D . Cory. sum of $600, being the amount he has refunded to the United States to cover the loss of public funds for which he was responsible, stolen between March 27,1918 and May 4,1918. . (8) Captain Richard D. Daugherity, Forty-eighth Infantry, the D;~f~:fty~lchard D. sum of $256.91, being the amount he has refunded to the United States to cover the loss of public funds for which he was responsible, I3tolen on December 7, 1918.
