Monthly premiums determined by direc- tor, etc. Payment of. m onthly paymen t under the r ovisions of t his section s hall not be reduced because of payment of ppermanent and total disability benefits u nder the United S tates Go vernment life (c onverted) insuran ce policy . Such payments shall be effective as of the first day of the fifth consecutive month, and shall be made monthly during the con- tinuance of such total disability . Such payments shall be concurrent wi th or independent of permanen t total disability benefits u nder the United States Government life (converted) insurance policy . In addition to the monthly disability benefits the payment of premiums on the United States (~fovernment life (converted) insurance policy and for the total disability benefits authorized by this section shall be waived during the continuance of such total disability . Regulations shall provide for reexaminations of beneficiaries under this section ; and, in the event that it is found that an insured is no longer totally disabl ed, the waiver of premiums an d payment of benefits shall c ease and the United States Government life (converted) insurance policy, includ ing the total disability prov ision authorized by this sect ion, may be continued by payment of premiums as provided in said policy and the total disability provision authorized by this section . Neither the d ividends nor the amount pa yable in any settlement u nder any United States Government life (converted) insurance policy shall be decreased because of disability benefits granted under the provisions of this section . The payment of total disability benefits shall not prejudice the right of any insured, who is totally and permanently disabled, to total permanent disability benefits under his United States Government life (converted) insurance policy : Provided, That the provision authorized by this section shall not be included in any Unite d States Gove rnment life ( converted) i nsurance poli cy here- tofore or hereafter issued, except upon application, payment of premi um by the ins ured, and pro of of good h ealth satisfa ctory to t he d ir ec to r . The benefit granted under this section shall be on the basis of multiples of $500, and not less than $1,000 or more than the amount of United St ates Governme nt life (conv erted) insura nce in force at time of application . The director shall determine the amount of the monthly premium to cover the benefits of this section, and in order t o continue such benefits in f orce the monthly premiums shall be payable until the insured attains the age of sixty-five years or until the prior maturity of the policy . In all other respects such monthly premium sha ll be payable under the sa me terms and condi- tions as the regular monthly premium on the United States Govern- ment life (convert ed) insurance policy .
