1187 INDEX TO STATE LEGISLATION INDEX TO FEDERAL STATUTES To enable the Librarian of Congress to revise and extend the index to the Federal Statutes, published in 1908 and known as the Scott and Beaman Index, to include the Acts of Congress down to and including the Acts of the Seventieth Congress, and to have the rev ised ind ex printe d at the Governm ent Prin ting Offi ce, as a uthor- ized and directed by the Act approved March 3, 1927, as amended June 14, 1930, $50,000, to be immediately available . SUNDAY OPENING To enable the Library of Congress to be kept open for reference use on Sundays and on holidays within the discretion of the Librarian, including the extra services of employees and the services of additional employees under the Librarian, at rates to be fixed by the Librarian, $18,000 . INCREASE OF THE LIBRARY For purchase of books, miscellaneous periodicals and newspapers, and all other material, for the increase of the Library, including payment in advance for subscription books and society publications, and for freight, commissions, and traveling expenses, including expenses of attendance at meetings when incurred on the written authority and direction of the Librarian in the interest of collections, and all other expenses incidental to the acquisition of books, miscel- laneous periodicals and newspapers, and all other material for the increase of the Library, by purchase, gift, bequest, or exchange, to continue available during the fiscal year 1933, $130,000 . For purchase of books and for periodicals for the law library, under the direction of the Chief Justice, $50,000 . For purchase of new books of reference for the Supreme Court, to be a part of the Library of Congress, and purchased by the marshal of the Supreme Court, under the direction of the Chief Justice, $2,500 . PRINTING AND BINDING For miscellaneous printing and binding for the Library of Congress, including the Copyright Office, and the binding, rebinding, an d repairing of library books, and for the Library Building, $2 07,000 . Preparing index and To enable the Librarian of Congress to prepare an index to the digest of . legislation of the several States, together with a supplemental digest of the more impor tant legi slati on, as au thori zed and d irect ed b y the Act entitled "An Act providing for the preparation of a biennial u: l 44, . s6. Iv, , pp. index to State legislation," approved February 10, 1927 (U . S . C ., p .10. Supp . III, title 2, sets . 164, 165), including personal and other ser vices wi thin and without the Dist rict of Columbia (includi ng not to exceed $2,500 for special and temporary service at rates to be fixed by the Librarian), travel, necessary material and apparatus, and for printing and binding the indexes and digests of State legis- lation for official distribution only, and other printing and binding incident to the work of compilation, stationery, and incidentals, $33,460, and in addition the unexpended balance of the appropriation for this pu rpose for the fis cal year 1931 is reapprop riated f or the fiscal year 1932 .
