Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States o f America in Congress assembled, That the final roll of the Eastern B and of Cherokee Indians in No rth Carolina di rected to be prepared by the Act of June 4, 1924 (43 Stat . L . 376), is hereby declared to be a final roll of said Indians only for the purpose of showing the membership of said band as it existed on the 4th day of June, 1924 : Provided, That thereafter no person of less than one- si xteenth degree of sai d East ern Che rokee I ndian b lood sh all be recognized as entitled to any rights with the Eastern Band of Chero- kee Indians except by inheritance from a deceased member or mem- bers : Provided further, That the Secretary of the Interior is hereby authorized to defer the work of making allotments in severalty to the enrolled memb ers of said ban d as provided for in said Act until otherwise directed by Congress .
