1523 SEC . 2. There is hereby authorized to be appropriated the sum of $25,000, or so much thereof as may be necessar y, to car ry out the provisions of section 1 of this Act . SEC . 3. The land acquired under section 1of this Act shall be und er the jurisdiction and control of the Sec ret ary of Wa r, and there is authorized to be appropriated for the maintenance of such mon ume nt and its site a sum not to exceed $250 per annum . Be it enacte d by the Senate and House of Repr esen tat ives of the United States o f America in Congress assembled, Th at notwith- standing the provisions and limitations of section 3510 of the Revised Statutes, as amended, the Secretary of the Treasury is author- ized and directe d, for t he purpos e of com memorati ng the tw o hun- dredth anniversary of the birth of George Washington, to change the design of the twenty-five-cent piece so that the portrait of George Washingt on shall appear on the ob verse, w ith appr opriate d evices on the reverse, of said piece . Be it enacted by the Senate an d House o f Representatives o f the United States o f America in Congress assembled, That sections 17 General Leasing Act, amendments. and 27 of the Act entitled "An Act to promote the mining of coal, Vol . 41, p. 437 , phosphate, oil, oil shale, gas, and sodium on the public domain," a Undsd .C ., pp . 965, approved February 25, 1920 (41 Stat. 437 ; U. S. C., title 30, sees. 184 119 - and 226), as amended, are amended and reenacted to read as follows : " SEC. 17. That all unaPlprohriated deposits of oil or gas situated L priated easi ng de of unsppr n posits 1 within the known geologic structure of a producing oil or gas field knownproducmgfields . and the unentered lands containing the same, not subject to prefer- ential lease, may be leased by the Secretary of the Interior to the highest responsible bidder by competitive bidding under general regulations to qualified applicants in units reaso nably compa ct of not exceeding six hundred and forty acres, su ch leases to be conditioned up on the payment by the lessee of such bonus as may et Payment of bonus, be accepted and of such royalty as may be fixed in the lease, which shall not be less than 12 1/ 2 per centum in amount or value of the production, and the payment in advance of a rental of not le ss than $1 per ac re per annum thereafter during the continuance of the lease, the rental paid for any one year to be credited against the royalties as they accrue for that year .
