[$.1; . 7414'] [Public, No . 165 .] Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United St ates of America in Congress asse mbled, That hereafter er alper son ne of Fed • n 1st day retirement authorized by law, of Federal personnel of whatever Ef fec tive of month followi ng that cl ass, civ il, mili tary , na val, jud ici al, legi slat ive, or othe rwis e, a nd in whichre tired . for whatever cause retired, shall take effect on the 1st day of the u . sPC46 Supp. IV, month following the month in which said retirement would other- p .30. wise be effective, and said 1st day of the month for retirements here- after made shall be for all purposes in lien of such date for retire- Com putatio n of pay ment as may now be authorized ; except that the rate of active or oraiowances . retired pay or allowance shall be computed as of the date retire- ment would have occurred if this Act had not been enacted.
