PUBLIC SCHOOLS For personal services of administrative and supervisory officers in accordance with the Act fixing and regulating the salaries of teachers school officers, and other employees of the Board of Educa- tion of F e District of Columbia, approved June 4, 1924 (43 Stat ., pp . 367-375), including salaries of presidents of teachers' colleges in the salary schedule for first assistant superintendents, $669,915 . For personal services of clerks and other employees, $164,760 . For personal services in the department of school attendance and work permits in accordance with the Act approved June 4, 1924 (43 Stat ., p . 367-375), the Act approved February 5, 1925 (43 Stat ., pp . 806--808), and the Act approved May 29, 1928 (45 Stat ., p . 998), $42,700 . For personal services of teachers and librarians in accordance with the Act approved June 4, 1924 (43 Stat ., pp . 367-375), includin for teachers' colleges assistant professors in salary class seven, ang profess ors in salar y clas s twel ve, $6 ,539,76 4 : Provided, That as teacher vacancies occur during the fiscal year 1933 in grades one to four inclu sive o f the elemen tary s chools, such vacanc ies ma y be filled by the assignment of teachers now employed in kindergartens, and teachers employed in kindergartens are hereby made eligible to teach in the said grades . No part of any appropriation made in this Act shall be paid to any person employed under or in connection with the public schools of the District of Columbia who shall solicit or receive, or permit to be solicited or received, on any public-school premises, any subscription or donation of money or other thing of value from any pupil enrolled in such public schools for presentation of testi- monials to school officials or for any purpose except such as may be authorized by the Board of Education at a stated meeting upon the wri tten r ecomme ndatio n of t he sup erinten dent o f scho ols . Fo r the instru ction and su pervis ion of childr en in the va cation schools and playgrounds, and supervisors and teachers of vacation schools and playgrounds may also be supervisors and teachers of day scho ols, $36, 000 . To carry out the purposes of the Act approved June 11, 1926, entitled "An Act to amend the Act entitled `An Act for the retire- ment of public-sc hool teac hers in t he Distr ict of Co lumbia,' approved Januar y 15, 1920, and fo r othe r purp oses " (41 Stat ., pp. 387-390), $400,000 .
