Be it enacted by the Senate and House o f Representatives o f the United States o f America in Congress assembled, That that part of the Act of June 16, 1921 (42 Stat . 63), incorporated in the United States Co de as sec tion 392 of title 5, is ame nded to r ead as fo llows " When any damage is done to person or property by or through the operation of the Post Office Department in any branch of its service and such damage is found by the Postmaster General upon investigation to be a proper charge against the United States, the Postmaster General is invested with power to adjust and settle any claim for such damage when his award for such damage in any case does not exceed $500, and this authority shall hereafter be construed as extending to cases caused by the negligence of any officer or employee of the Post Office Department or Postal Service acting withi n the scop e of his emplo ymen t." AN ACT To authorize the Sec retary of the Treasu ry to amend the cont ract for sale of post-office building and site at Findlay, Ohio . Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, That the Secretary of the Treasury be, and he is hereby, authorized to agree to an amend- ment to the e xistin g cont ract b etween the ci ty of Findla y, Ohi o, and the United States of America for the sale of the old post-office site and building at Findlay, Ohio, for the sum of $50,000, negotiated on the basis of one fourth cash and the balance in equal installments payable in three, six, nine, and twelve months with interest on deferred payments payable quarterly at 5 per centum per annum ; the amended contract to provide that payment may be made in five annual installments of $10,000 each, with interest at the rate of 5 per centum per annum on the unpaid balance : Provided, That such extension of time for payment shall be effective upon date of execu- tion of amended contract between the city of Findlay and the United June 22, 1934.
