Salaries and Expenses, Public Buildings Outside the District of Co lum bia : For adm inistr ation, prote ction, and m aintena nce, i nclud- ing improvement, repair, cleaning, heating, lighting, rental of build- ings and equipment, supplies, materials, personal services at rates of compensation not in excess of the rates current in the place where such servic es are emplo yed, a nd eve ry expe nditur e requ isite for an d inci dent al to such mai ntena nce a nd op erat ion o f pub lic build ings outside of the District of Columbia under the jurisdiction of the Off ice of National Parks, Buildings, and Reservations, $78,590 . Hereafter the Office of National Parks, Buildings, and Reserva- tions shall be known as the " National Park Service ", and appropria- tions herein made for the Office of National Parks, Buildings, and Reservations shall be available to the National Park Service, and the services of the Director and personnel of the Office of National Parks, Buildings, and Reservations shall be continued in the National Park Service under their present appointments . OFF ICE OF EDUC ATION SALAR IES For the Commissioner of Education and other personal services in the Distri ct of Columb ia, $2 20,500 . GENERAL EXPENSES For necessary traveling expenses of the commissioner and employees acting under his direction, including attendance at meetings of educational associations, societies, and other organiza- tions ; for compensation, not to exceed $500, of employees in field service ; for purchase, distribution, and exchange of educational documents, motion-picture films, and lantern slides ; collection, exchange, and cataloging of educational apparatus and appliances, articles of school furniture and models of school buildings illustra- tive of foreign and domestic systems and methods of education, and repairing the same ; and other expenses not herein provided for, $12,500 .
