Salarie s and expens es, cl erks o f cour ts : For salari es of clerks of United States circuit courts of appeals and United States district courts, their deputies, and other assistants, travel expenses pursuant to the Subsistence Expense Act of 1926, as amended (U.S.C ., Supp . VI, title 5, sees . 821-833), and other expenses of conducting their respective offices, $1,797,000 . Fees of commissioners : For fees of the United States commis- sioner s and other commit ting m agistr ates, a cting under sectio n 1014 , Revised Statutes (U .S.C., title 18, sec . 591), $400,000 . Conciliation Commissioners, United States Courts : For fees of conc iliat ion c ommis sion ers, and p er d iem a llowa nce and t ravel ing expenses of supervising conciliation commissioners, as authorized by the Act entitled "An Act to amend an Act entitled `An Act to establish a uniform system of bankruptcy throughout the United States', approved July 1, 1898, and Acts amendatory thereof and supp lemen tary there to ", appr oved Mar ch 3 , 19 33, the une xpen ded balance of the amount made available for this purpose in the Third Deficiency Act, fiscal year 1933, is continued available until June 30, 1935 . Fees of jurors and witnesses : For mileage and per diems of jurors ; for mileage and per diems of witnesses and for per diems in lieu of subsistence ; and for payment of the expenses of witnesses, as provid ed by sectio n 850, Revis ed Sta tutes (U. S .C ., title 28, sec . 604) , including the expenses, mileage, and per diems of witnesses on behalf of the Government before the United States Customs Court, such paym ents to be made on the c ertif icat ion o f the att orney for the United States and to be conclusive as provided by section 846, Revised Statutes (U.S.C ., title 28, sec . 577), $2,230,000 : Provided, That not to exceed $10,000 of this amount shall be available for such compensation and expenses of witnesses or informants as may be authorized or approved by the Attorney General, which approval shall be conclusive : Provided further, That no part of the sum herein appropriated shal l be used to pay any witness more than o ne attend ance f ee for any o ne cal endar day . Rent : For rent of rooms for the United States courts and judicial officers, $55,000 . Salaries and expenses of bailiffs, and so forth : For bailiffs, not exceedin g three b ailiffs i n each co urt, exc ept in th e souther n distric t of New York and the northern district of Illinois ; meals and lodg- ing for jurors in United States cases, and of bailiffs in attendance upon the same, when ordered by the court, and meals and lodging for jurors in Alaska, as provided by section 193, title II, of the Act of June 6, 1900 (U .S .C ., title 28, sees . 9, 557-570, 595, 596), and compensation for jury commissioners, $5 per day, not exceeding three days for any one term of court, $235,000 : Provided, That no per diem shall be paid to any bailiff unless the court is actually in session and the judge present and presiding or present in chambers : Provi ded f urther , That none of this appropriation shall be used for the pay of bailiffs when deputy marshals or marshals are avail- able for t he du ties ordi naril y ex ecute d by baili ffs, the fact of unavailability to be determined by the certificate of the marshal . Miscellaneous expenses : For such miscellaneous expenses as may be authorized or approved by the Attorney General, for the United States courts and t heir o fficer s, inc luding expert s at s uch ra tes of compensation as may be authorized or approved by the Attorney General, including also so much as may be necessary in the discretion of the Attorney General for such expenses in the District of Alaska
