Pro- vi de d , That the appr opria tion s con taine d in the Naval Appr opri a- tion Act for the fiscal year 1935 for drills for members of the Naval and Marine Corps reserve forces shall be available for the conduct of 48 drills for each of such forces . No part of the appropriations made in this Act shall be available for pay, allowances, or traveling or other expenses of any officer or enlisted man of the National Guard who may be drawing a pen- sion, disability allowance, disability compensation, or retired pay (where retirement has been made on account of physical dis- ability or age) from the Government of t he United States : Pro- vided, That nothing in this provision shall be so construed as to prevent the a pplica tion o f fund s here in cont ained to the pay, allow- ances, or traveling expenses of any officer or enlisted man of the Natio nal G uard who may s urren der said pensi on, d isab ility allo w- ance, disability compensation, or retired pay for the period of his service in the National Guard : Provided further, That present adjutants general wh o may be drawing such emoluments may be continued in a federally recognized status without pay under this Act . ARMS, UN IFOR MS, EQUI PMEN T, AND SO FO RTII , FOR FI ELD SERV ICE, NATI ONAL GUA RD To procure by purchase or manufacture and issue from time to time to the National Guard, upon requisition of the governors of the several States and Territories or the commanding general, National Guard of the District of Columbia, such military equipment and stores of all kinds and reserve supply thereof as are necessary to arm, uniform, and equip for field service the National Guard of the several States, Territories, and the District of Columbia, and to repair such of the aforementioned articles of equipage and military stores as are or may become damaged when, under regulations pre- scribed by the Secretary of War, such repair may be determined to be an ec onomic al mea sure a nd as necess ary for their prope r pres erva- tion and use, $3,355,541, and all of the sums appropriated in this Act on account of the National Guard shall be accounted for as one fund and of the total of such sums $3,000,000 shall be available imme- diately : Pr ovide d, That funds now and herein made available to the National Guard Bureau may be used for the purchase of motor- propelled trucks and station wagons, and trailers, at a cost per vehicle not to exceed $800, $700, and $525, respectively, and the speci- ficatio ns for such vehicl es, wh ich sh all be so dra wn as to adm it of competition, shall to the extent otherwise practicable conform with the requirements of the National Guard as determined by the Chief of the National Guard Bureau : Provided further, That the Secre- tary of War is hereby authorized to issue surplus or reserve stores and material on hand and purchased for the United States Army such articles of clothing and equipment and Field Artillery, Engi- neer, and Signal material and ammunition as may be needed by the National Guard organized under the provisions of the Act entitled "An Act for making further and more effectual provision for the national defense, and for other purposes ", approved June 3, 1916 633 Proviso.
