For payment of one half of the salaries and other expenses of the Joint Committee on Internal Revenue Taxation as authorized by law, $25,500. No p art of the a ppropr iation s cont ained h erein for th e cont ingent expenses of the House of Representatives shall be used to defray the expenses of any committee consisting of more than six persons (not more than four from the House and not more than two from the Senate), nor to defray the expenses of any other person except the Sergeant at Arms of the House or a representative of his office and except the widow and/or minor children of the deceased, to attend the funeral rites and/or burial of any person who at the time of his or her death is a Representative, a Delegate from a Territory, or a Resident Commissioner fr om Puerto Rico or the Philippine Islands . For telegraph and telephone service, exclusive of personal services, $90,000 . For stationery for Representatives, Delegates, and Resident Com- missioners, for the first session of the Seventy-fourth Congress, and for stationery for the use of the committees and officers of the House (not to exceed $5,000), $60,000 . For medical supplies, equipment, and contingent expenses for the emergency room and for the attending physician and his assistants, includi ng an allowa nce of not t o exce ed $30 per mo nth ea ch to three assistants as provided by the House resolutions adopted July 1, 1930, and January 20, 1932, $2,500 . That the present incumbent as attending physician be advanced one grade as an extra number, provided that this shall not be con- sidered as affecting the opportunity for advancement of any other person . Postage stamps : Postmaster, $250 ; Clerk, $450 ; Sergeant at Arms, $300 ; Doorkeeper, $150 ; in all $1,150 . For preparation and editing of the laws as authorized by the Act appr oved May 29, 192 8 (U .S .C ., Supp. VI title 1, sec . 59), $6,500, to be expended under the direction of the dommittee on Revision of' the Laws . For assistants in compiling lists of reports to be made to Congress by public officials ; compiling copy and revising proofs for the House portion of the Official Register ; preparing and indexing the statistical reports of the Clerk of the House ; compiling the telephone and Members' directories ; preparing and indexing the daily calendars of busi ness ; pre parin g the off icial stat emen t of Membe rs' v otin g records ; preparing lists of congressional nominees and statistical summary of elections ; preparing and indexing questions of order printed in the Appendix to the Journal pursuant to House Rule III ; for recording and filing statements of political committees and candida tes fo r elec tion t o the House of Repr esenta tives pursua nt to the Federal Corrupt Practices Act, 1925 (U.S.C., title 2, sees. 241- 256) ; and for such other assistance as the Clerk of the House may deem nece ssary and proper i n the con duct of t he busine ss of his office, $5,000 : Provided, That no part of this appropriation shall be used to augment the annual salary of any employee of the House of Representatives .
