Granting the consent of Congress to the Department of Public Works of the [H .R .9065.1 Commonwealth of Massachusetts to construct, maintain, and operate a free [Public, No. 280.] highway bridge across the Connecticut River at Turners Falls, Massachusetts . Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United State s of America in Congress a ssembled, That the consent Connecticut River . of Congress is hereby grant ed to the Dep artment of Pub lic Works, b dge,at Turners Commonwealth of Massachusetts, to construct, maintain, and operate F11111- a free highway bridge and approaches thereto across the Connecticut River, at a point suitable to the interests of navigation, at Montague (Turners Falls) and Gill (Riverside), Massachusetts, in accordance with the provisions of an Act entitled "An Act to regulate the con- Con struction . struction of bridges over navigable waters ", approved March 23, vol.34, p.s4. 1906 . bridge to vania, acting through its Department of Highways, to construct, maintain, and operate a bri dge and appro aches thereto across the Susquehanna River at a point suitable to the interests of navigation at or near B ainbri dge, Lancas ter Co unty, and M anches ter, Y ork County, and between the counties of York and Lancaster, in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, in accordance with the provisions of an Act entitled "An Act to regulate the construction of bridges vol34, p'84 . over navigable waters ", approved March 23, 1906, and subject to the conditions and limitations contained in this Act . SEC . 2 . If tolls are charged for the use of such bridge, the rates fo roperati on to provide of toll shall be so adjusted as to provide a fund sufficient to pay the ing fund . reasonable cost of maintaining, repairing, and operating the bridge and its approaches under economical management, and to provide a sinking fund sufficient to amortize the cost of the bridge and its approaches, including reasonable interest and financing cost, as soon as possible under reasonable charges, but within a period of not to exceed twenty years from th e completion thereof . A fte r a si nki ng bria a ien after an ce o fr ee fund sufficient for such amortization shall have been so provided, ing costs . such bridge shall thereafter be maintained and operated free of tolls, or the rates of toll shall thereafter be so adjusted as to provide a fund of not to exceed the amount necessary for the proper main- tenance, repair, and operation of the bridge and its approaches under economical management .
