CAR E OF BUILDINGS AND GR OUN DS For personal services, including care of smaller buildings and rented rooms at a rate not to exceed $96 per annum for the care of each schoolroom, other than those occupied by atypical or ungraded classes, for which service an amount not to exceed $120 per annum may be allowed, $791,600 . MISCELLANEOUS For the maintenance of schools for tubercular and crippled pupils, $8,000 . Fo r tra nspo rtati on fo r pup ils atten ding scho ols f or tu bercu lar pupils, and for pupils attending schools for crippled pupils, $18,500 : Provided, That expenditures for street car and bus fares, from this fund shall not be subject to the general limitations on the use of street car and bus fares covered by this Act . For purch ase an d repa ir of furnit ure, t ools, m achine ry, ma terial , and books, and apparatus to be used in connection with instruction in manual and vocational training, and incidental expenses con- nected therewith, including the Shaw Junior High School, $60,000, to be immediately available . For fuel, gas, and electric light and power, $250,000 . For conti ngent expens es, in cludin g Unit ed Stat es fla gs, fu rnitur e and rep airs o f same , stat ionery , ice, paper towels , and other neces- sary items not otherwise provided for, and including not exceeding $8,000 for books of reference and periodicals, not exceeding $1,500 for replacement of pianos at an average cost of not to exceed $300 each, not exceeding $5,000 for labor, $119,500, to be immediately available : Provided, That a bond shall not be required on account of military supplies or equipment issued by the War Department for military instruction and practice by the students of high schools in the District of Columbia . For furniture and equipment, including pianos and Window shades, for the Woodrow Wilson Senior High School, $150,000 . No money appropriated in this Act for the purchase of furniture and equipment for the public schools of the District of Columbia shall b e expe nded u nless the re quisit ions of the B oard o f Educ ation therefor shall be approved by the Commissioners of the District of Colum bia, or by the purc hasin g offi cer and t he aud itor f or the Dis- trict of Columbia acting for the Commissioners .
